Transbet TCS is commencing another major tunnel project – the production of reinforcement cages for railway tunnels T7 and T9 and evacuation tunnel T9 on railway line no. 622, section H Szczyrzyc – Tymbark.
The project is part of the Podleze-Piekielko investment – one of the most significant infrastructure undertakings in Poland in recent years. Its aim is to substantially reduce travel time and improve transport accessibility in southern Poland, particularly in the Malopolska and Podhale regions.
Scope of work Transbet TCS is responsible for the comprehensive production of reinforcement cages for TBM-drilled tunnel linings. The scope covers steel preparation and processing, welding in certified technology (EN ISO 17660-2), quality control, and delivery logistics of finished prefabricates to the construction site.
The project includes the construction of two railway tunnels together with parallel evacuation tunnels, three of which are being built using TBM technology. The T9 evacuation tunnel, designed to reach a length of 3,875 m, will be bored using the Kinga TBM (diameter: 4.8 m) and requires the production of 16,130 reinforcement cages. The railway tunnels are being constructed using the Jadwiga TBM (diameter: 10.6 m). The target length of tunnel T9 is 3,817 m, while tunnel T7 will be 1,090 m long, requiring a combined total of 16,975 reinforcement cages.
Continuation of experience The LK622 section H project is a natural continuation of the work carried out by Transbet TCS as part of the construction of the tunnel on railway line no. 104, section D Limanowa – Klęczany siding, where the same TBMs – Jadwiga and Kinga – were used. The new project will apply proven production organisation solutions, a FIFO-compliant storage system, and molds equipped with colour-coded markings for bar positioning.
The consortium for this project consists of Budimex S.A., Gulermak S.A., and Budimex Kolejnictwo S.A. The investor is PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. The implementation period is 2026–2027.
